Flight Simulator

V Speed Aviation, LLC has access to an FAA-certified flight simulator at the Reno-Tahoe International Airport which can help significantly reduce your flight training expenses and be applied to your required certificate flight hours.

Saving time and money! The simulator not only allows for airplane familiarization before spending a lot more money in an airplane on the flight line burning fuel, but it also allows for practicing procedures, working on instrument scanning techniques, and, for instrument students, practicing multiple approaches and not having to fly a ‘go-around’ to get back into position miles away from the airport to try again. It is also great for staying fresh in your training when you have the time and want to fly, but the weather is not cooperating.

This Advanced Aviation Training Device (an AATD) is configurable for singles, twins, and jet airplanes.

The Precision Flight Controls CRX Advanced Aviation Training Device replicates 34 single and twin piston-powered airplanes, 7 turboprops, and 2 jets.

The PFC CRX AATD Simulating a Light Twin.

You can spend as much time in the simulator as you like and the FAA will allow credit for several hours based on the certificate or rating level sought:

  • Private Pilot – 2.5 hours***
  • Instrument Rating – 20 hours
  • Commercial Rating – 50 hours
  • Airline Transport Rating – 25 hours
  • Instrument Recurrent / Currency Training

***It is unusual for simulator time to be credited to a private pilot’s training time, however, this AATD has an exception from the FAA.

We do not mark-up the cost of renting the simulator and the student pays for the rental directly which is typically $90 per hour or $820 for a block of 10 hours.

In addition, instructor training rates for the time in this simulator are also less expensive than most flight rates at $60/hour and can be found on our Rates page.
