On April 17th , 2025 while on a multi-day trip where we had flown to Santa Rosa I received notification of a rescue flight for a 3 year-old Husky girl that needed a ride from Upland, California to Reno, Nevada. Since we were returning to Reno in the next couple days this seemed like a no-brainer.

Since this would be a long flight somewhat out of our way we were able to coordinate with another pilot based in Visalia who would fly Nova from Upland to Visalia on the 21st and we would pick her up there and return to Reno.

Normally we transport these fur babies in a crate to keep them from getting up front or (just as important) to prevent them from getting tossed around should there be unexpected turbulence. However, Nova was the best passenger and, although we had a leash secured to her and the back seat, she curled up for the flight and waited patiently.

Our flight from Visalia over the Sierra Nevada Mountains turned out to be smooth and Nova simply did her best to sleep through the flight getting regular pettings from us reaching back from the front seat.
Since we hangar in Carson City, we had a short drive to Reno to deliver her to her forever home and loaded her in another back seat, but at least the car was not as noisy.

After meeting her new owner she posted a clip on Instagram adding all the videos and photos of Nova’s journey and you can see it here:
