Rescue Flight: 3 Cute Puppies and Rudy – KVIS and KFCH to KSTS

On August 11, 2024 my wife was able to join me for a multiple-puppy rescue flight taking us from the middle of California up to Northern California to deliver these fur-babies to their forever homes. We wound up combining a couple of rescue requests into one flight: https://www.pilotsnpaws.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=94880&p=449190#p449190 and https://www.pilotsnpaws.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=94881&p=449189#p449189

When we arrived in Visalia to meet the owner of the three puppies, she had caved in to her kids and would be keeping two of the puppies (just like my last rescue flight!), so we just had the one of the three and Rudy to transport.

Happy and excited! Great flying puppies!

During the flight we received a text from the coordinator that there was another couple of pups needing transport to Santa Rosa for rescue and wanted to know if we could fly to Chandler Executive. Since this was on the way it made sense, so we made the quick hop from Visalia to just outside of Fresno. My wife took over the public relations texting while I was busy flying (THANK YOU!).

They’ve had it rough on the streets, so they’re still nervous about the future, but it’s about to be brighter!

These poor pups were found on the street and rescued by a local dog lover that is a regular contributor to the Pilots-N-Paws community. She said they had fleas, so we kept them separate from the other two pups, but fleas don’t bother us, so they still got plenty of affection.

My wife couldn’t help from giving them hugs!

This was a very hot day for everyone involved, so the sooner we could get in the air and up where it was cooler the better (most small airplanes don’t have A/C). All told it was around 6.6 hours round trip flight time and around 613 miles (533 nautical miles).

When we arrived in Santa Rosa the Kaiser Air FBO staff was very helpful, friendly and excited about the rescue flight. The new parents were also there waiting and happy to meet their new family members. A happy ending to a hot great day. 🙂
